Disney Animation Tribute

August 8, 2011 at 10:18 am

0 Disney Animation TributeWhen I heard Disney was finally making a new traditionally animated feature film, I was excited. When the general populace heard Disney was finally making a new traditionally animated feature film, they flipped out. Over the years I’ve heard criticism, complains, accusations made about Disney. Some of them are well-founded. Some, I feel, are not.

I made this video because I just wanted to remind people: yes, the Disney company has flaws, but they’ve provided generations of children with classic films with beautiful animation, engaging stories, and memorable characters. I enjoyed these movies when I was four, and I’ll still love them at ninety-four. Not many films, and film companies have that kind of talent.

So this is my little three-minute to tribute to them. It was a bit hard to cram 50-odd years of footage into a three-minute video, so it goes by pretty fast. Some movies I couldn’t get digital copies of, and some got cut purely because of time and artistic constraints. I tried to keep the films in semi-chronological order, but it does skip. The audio’s a little patchy too. So I apologize for all that.

And the obligatory: everything is owned by Disney. I own nothing. I take credit for nothing. This is merely a fan work. I in no way will or have plans to make any money off this video.

-Song-

So Close, by Jon McLaughlin, featured in Disney’s Enchanted

-Video- (all by Disney, sarcastic comments by me)

Snow White (this movie is actually hilarious)
Pinocchio
Cinderella (Cinderella was actually kind of badass)
101 Dalmatians (Cruella song was stuck in my head for DAYS)
The Sword in the Stone
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
The Rescuers (the clip in my video from this film made my “allergies” “act up” for like, ten minutes)
Aladdin (Aladdin was a total babe)
Bambi (my dad made me eat deer once)
Beauty and the Beast (greatest movie ever made)
Alice in Wonderland
Dumbo (Disney animators were on some good drugs make when this was made)
Hunchback of Notre Dame (Hellfire. That is all)
Fantasia
Lilo and Stitch (this film also made my “allergies” “act up”)
Mulan (you go girl)
Peter Pan (I can see why Native Americans wouldn’t like this movie…daaamn)
Hercules
Tarzan
The Jungle Book
The Fox and the Hound
The Lion King (awesome movie)
Little Mermaid (don’t blame you at all Ariel, I wanted to do naughty things to that Eric)
Through the Looking Glass (man this one is OLD, and I can’t remember where I found it)
Pocahontas (this movie was actually really good, and very beautiful…just ignore all the stupid controversy)

Random aside: you know how when people mention over-the-top weddings, usually the phrase “Disney fairytale wedding” pops up? But there’s actually…not that many weddings in Disney canon. The only ones I could find were: Robin Hood (very end), The Little Mermaid (very end), Cinderella (very end). That’s it. All the wedding scenes last like, a minute, except maybe The Little Mermaid, and even then the focus isn’t on the wedding, it’s on Ariel and her dad. People are stupid.

Princess in the Frog, Winter 2009…CAN’T WAIT!
