Best Disney World rides/attractions for 10 and 13 year old kids?

September 11, 2011 at 4:04 pm

Were going to Disney World for a week, our first trip.
There are so many rides and things to do in each park (seems overwhelming, no way we can do it all) I was wondering which are the best in each park.
We’re not ‘show’ people but more ride people.

Thanks in advance!!

My brother and I are going this Summer too, and were also 13 and 10. Me and my little brother are like ride freaks, we’ll go on anything, we’ve even been on the tallest, fastest roller coaster in the world, Kingda Ka, at Six Flags Great Adventure. So I’m not sure if you guys are dare devils, but I’ll tell you about my brother’s and mine favorite rides in Disney, this is our 4th time going.

MAGIC KINGDOM
Splash Mountain
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Snow White’s Scary Adventures
Space Mountain(But its sadly closed until November…Sucks.)
Pirates of the Caribbean

EPCOT
Soarin’( This ride is the best, you HAVE to go on it)
Test Track
Maelstrom(looks cool, I’ve never rode it though)

ANIMAL KINGDOM
Expedtion Everest
Primeval Whirl
Kali River Rapids
Dinosaur

HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS
Twilight Zone-Tower of Terror
Rock n’ Roller Coaster
Toy Story Mania

There’s also a lot of fun shows, and some other cool rides in Disney, Have Fun!

Allowed To Video Tape Attractions At Disney World?

September 10, 2011 at 5:38 am

This may sound like a dumb question, but are guests allowed to video tape coasters and stuff at Disney World? Some people sneak their cameras on. Are there any rides where video taping is prohibited?

I was just there this past January and took a video camera. I was openly videotaping the park and while ON certain rides (Big Thunder, Matterhorn Bobsleds, Indiana Jones), and nobody said anything. I even gave them the opportunity by clearly holding my camera where Cast Members could see it while waiting in line, and not a word. Even saw a video on Youtube where the guy was video taping and asked a Cast Member if he could sit in the front of the Bobsleds because he was recording home movies, and the lady just smiled and said, "Sure thing." So yeah, go for it, be careful while on the rides, and have fun.

What are the must see attractions/shows/rides in Disney World, Orlando in one day?

September 8, 2011 at 10:49 pm

I am a 25 year old. I have only one day left in Orlando after my business trip.

I am planning to get a One day magic your way ticket with park hopper option. On July 3rd the Magic Kingdom is open until 1 am and all other parks are open til 10 PM.

I know I can’t cover even half of the attractions. But I wanted to plan so that I can see atleast the most important attractions in all the four parks. Also does Disney world have fast passes?
Thanks!

I strongly suggest you read up a bit on http://www.allearsnet.com and make sure you see everything you want to see!

Fast passes are FREE at Disney. But the time of year you are going, they will probably be gone early in the day. So I wouldn’t count on them.

I agree with another poster who said you should park at the Magic Kingdom and then transport from there. You can use the monorail and buses to get between parks. Then you’ll be at the right place when you leave.

Personally, I would pick out 2 parks to do and not try to get them all. But that being said, here are the "signature" attractions, mostly thrill rides.

Magic Kingdom – Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain. Also, if you have time, Haunted Mansion, and Pirates of the Caribbean (CLASSICS)!

Epcot – Soarin, Test Track, Mission:Space. The back part of this park is the World Showcase, but you really have to take a leisurely stroll through this part and explore to get the effect. So I would not even go into the back section.

Studios – Tower of Terror and Rock n Roller Coaster (right beside each other). If you have time, I still love Star Tours and Muppets 3D, even if they are outdated. And the Great Movie Ride is still fun.

Animal Kingdom – Expedition Everest and the Kilimanjaro Safaris. Animal Kingdom is part zoo, and that means you are supposed to take your time here and look at the animals. If I was going to pick one park to skip, this would be it.

Have fun!

Disney World attractions?

September 7, 2011 at 3:00 pm

Me and my family (3 kids) are going to Disney World during Christmas break. We booked for 4 days in the park. Are there any particular attractions or rides that you recommend? There are six sections in the park, but the 2 water parks will be closed for repairs. We were thinking about spending a day in each section of the park, but I think that some sections have more to offer than others. Which ones will be the most popular? (since this will be during break) What you recommend?

There are four separate theme parks at Disney World – they are not sections of the same park.

Magic Kingdom will almost definitely be the busiest/most popular. It also has the most to do, which explains why! Since you are going at the busiest time of year, you will need at least 2 days at Magic Kingdom to do it all (or most of it).

Epcot you can probably do in a day, if you don’t want to thoroughly explore all the countries. You may just need to pick out a couple, or you may do short visits instead of in-depth.

Hollywood Studios can be done in a day. It’s a smaller park with fewer rides, but the rides there seem to have a high re-ride factor. So don’t be surprised if you do spend the full day, going back and riding some of the same rides a second and third time.

Animal Kingdom is a large park, but with not much to do. If your kids are in love with animals, you could spend a great deal of time observing. But if you don’t care too much about that, you might want to skip it.

If you will be there on actual Christmas Day, the parks do close to capacity crowds, so just be sure to get there super-early and don’t leave!

If it were me, I would spend 2 days at Magic Kingdom, 1 at Epcot, and 1 at Hollywood Studios. But you might want to get a guidebook or two and flip through the attractions to help you decide which parks will appeal most to your group.

What are the main attractions at disney world?

September 5, 2011 at 1:13 pm

I am going this week for four days and I also so want to know what should I pack and the must see attractions! icon biggrin What are the main attractions at disney world? Its also my first time going there and I’m spending my birthday there. I was also wondering what things do you get if its your birthday?

On your birthday, you get free admission into the park. If it’s already paid for, you get a gift card worth one days admission (so $75).

To pack – It will be hot. I am currently in Orlando and it’s been hot and humid everyday. Also, it rains every day. Do not plan your days around the rain – you really can’t avoid it! Wear shoes that are comfortable, but are good in the rain – like Crocs. Also wear breathable clothing, like cotton… so no jean shorts and stuff like that. Wear light colors (although white isn’t the best idea because it will go see-through). Also, wear sunscreen, especially on your face and shoulders (they burn the easiest in this heat for me)

Must see attractions :
Haunted Mansion – Magic Kingdom
It’s A Small World – Magic Kingdom
Pirates of the Caribbean – Magic Kingdom
Dumbo – Magic Kingdom
Splash Mountain – Magic Kingdom
Big Thunder Mountain – Magic Kingdom
Expedition Everest – Animal Kingdom
Kilimanjaro Safari’s – Animal Kingdom
Mission:Space – Epcot
Test Track – Epcot
Soarin’ – Epcot
Rock n Roller Coaster – Hollywood Studio’s
Tower of Terror – Hollywood Studio’s
Toy Story Mania – Hollywood Studio’s
+ If you do the water parks, Crush n’ Gusher at Typhoon Lagoon and Summit Plummet at Blizzard Beach!

Anyways I hope this helps
